Preparation

Forgive me friend, forgive me foe,
Kill all my secrets you may know,
Erase the bad me from memory,
Let me escape from this misery,

Hurt me for all that I have hurt,
Accuse me for my accusations,
Banish the devil of my soul,
End its evil occupation,

So that when at my funeral,
You bow your head, struggling to hide a smile,
And you have to praise me for a while,
That day; you won’t have to lie.
